| "Art Rod, the Car"
Greg DePauw in Metamora, Illinois, had a
dream to bring art to students from under-served communities. For school
systems that have had to eliminate their art program or struggle with
budgets cuts, Greg could bring a creative art program directly to their
schools. This was a way to give back to the community, realize his dream to
create a moving piece of sculpture (a street rod turned into an art
rod), and bring art alive and speak to students. It was difficult to
make this car, a task many said could not be done, but by sticking to his
dream, involving those can-do people who could see his vision, he made this
dream a reality. The following pictures and words tell the story of the Art
Rod.
The day the 1937 Ford Sedan was purchased it looked like a
rusty wreck.

| "Redesign" After months of
engineering and redesigning the car, a wheel chair entrance was completed.

| "Taking Shape" Complete frame
restoration and updated components helped the "Art Rod" take shape.

| "Controls" Completely wheel chair
accessible entrance and hand controls put in place.

| "Complete And..." After almost 4
years of work, the Art Rod was complete. Many, many
people helped to make this possible. The main craftsman, welder, designer,
and mechanic was Paul Gansch. |

| "Ready, set..." The Art Rod is ready to hit the road.
